About Us

Welcome to Macarthur Scout Group. Our Group is thirty five years old and prides itself on providing its youth members and support Leaders and adult helpers with fun, excitement, adventure and challenges.

Like a number of Groups in the Tuggeranong Valley, we have fewer youth members than when we started. We would love to have more members and welcome new members. There over 50 people involved actively in the Group each week. These people include the youth, our Leaders and the Committee who live out the goals of Scouting.

I look forward to meeting you as we encourage the physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual development of young people so that they take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens, and as a member of their local, national and international communities

Membership Requirements

Visiting to see first hand what Scouting can offer is an important part of joining our Group. We are happy for prospective members to visit for up to 3 weeks before making a commitment. After this ’trial’ period we ask that all youth intending to join complete a membership form available from the leaders. This will allow them to participate in all activities as a full member of Macarthur Scout Group.

We trust that you will enjoy your first time with us and we look forward to you becoming a member of our Group.

If your child would like to see first hand what Scouting can offer please contact me to arrange a visit.

COVID-Safe Scouting

ACT Scouting is operating under a COVID-Safe Plan which is designed to minimise the likelihood of our members, leaders and supporters contracting COVID-19. Macarthur Scouts continues to operate consistent with the Scouts ACT COVIDSafe Scouting Plan Step 4.2 issued on 16 November 2020.

The key points of this plan step are:

  • gatherings of up to 25 people are permitted without space restrictions

  • larger gatherings of up to 500 people are permitted with the 2 square metre space provision

  • larger indoor gatherings up to 500 people compliant with four square metre space provision

  • an attendance record at all activities is kept and provided to the Group Leader

  • each venue to have a Check In CBR QR Code prominently on display

  • weekly, outdoor and overnight activities are permitted, with interstate travel permitted subject to state government controls

  • social distancing, including no hugging, hand shaking or close physical contact to be continued

  • vehicles may carry people from more than one household, observing the 'two deep' rule for adult supervision

  • hand sanitiser is freely available in the hall and all surfaces and equipment cleaned after each use

  • no attendance if ill

  • hall hirers are briefed on these arrangements

Strict Hall hygiene is not negotiable. The COVID Safe Hall Plan requires hand sanitiser to be at the entry points to the Hall and used by each person entering or leaving the Hall. Hand sanitiser is at each wash basin and the kitchen sink.

All tea towels and hand towels to be removed from the Hall and replaced with paper towels.

The Hall can be occupied by a maximum of 40 people under current government COVID 19 requirements.
